September’s Postcard of the Month
This month's composition was inspired by the afternoon view from where I've customarily sat, out on the deck, just about every day this summer.
The photo below doesn't quite do justice to the brilliant, gem-like lure of that tiny little opening between the trees, where the sun sparkled off the Jewel Weed and the fields beyond.  It was hypnotic.
So that is what I attempted to capture - these are the precursors to the final compostition:
I never liked any of the foregrounds of these attempts.  I did like the 'opening' of the first one - I never quite captured exactly that again, but the overall effect of each card came pretty close to what I was after.

18 steps this time!  I brought the cards home after Step 17 -
I wasn't satisfied that they were finished, so I wanted to just absorb them overnight, look at 'em again fresh the next day.

And so I brought them back to the studio, planning to add one slight last little touch of dark green up around the center.  But it felt like a 'patch' - didn't make me feel any magic.  So I looked through my stamps and punches - maybe I'd overlooked something wonderful?  And I HAD!  NOTES!!   So I punched out some Chartreuse notes, and: VOILA:
They're in there. You have to really LOOK, but they are!

Re: images of the steps of the collage building process: I DID make a bunch (10) of little flip books to take to sell at Local 64's $100 Art Sale in Montpelier a few weeks ago!!  (More about this below.)
My friend, Janet Van Fleet, suggested that I try them with just single images of one card from start to finish instead of the whole panel of 21.  So I did take pix of one of September's batch, step by step - I'll try another flip book that way.

In the meantime, here are the panels, step by step (scroll fast, it's more fun):
Step 1
 Step 2
 Step 3
 Step 4
 Step 5
 Step 6
 Step 7
 Step 8
 Step 9
Step 10
 Step 11
 Step 12
 Step 13
 Step 14
 Step 15
 Step 16
 Step 17
 Step 18 - Final Notes

So, re: Local 64's $100 Art Sale:  It was a lot of fun to prepare for and be at,
but (almost) ZILCH in sales.   I did sell a flip book!  And I do now have a lot of matted and framed 'inventory'!
