OPEN STUDIO!

Very late notice, but > Yes - my Richmond studio will be open this Open Studio Weekend!  I am located right above Toscano's Bistro & Cafe (which is a wonderful place to eat), right on the main street (Bridge Street) in hoppin' little Richmond (which boasts FOUR other - (mostly) SCRUMPTIOUS - eating establishments...!).  10-2 today; 10-2 tomorrow.

Last year's sign:

Warm.

Cozy.

And HEAVENLY SCENTED!

May's Postcard of the Month
Not much to say, besides: BLOSSOMS.

We have this lushly Flowering Crab in our front yard:
(last year's photo - it is NOT yet in bloom as I write this!  Plus, I probably would have tried to get a picture that features the telephone pole and power lines a bit less prominently...)

Production went relatively smoothly - the prototypes pretty much were just finessing the one idea
I had: a row of blossoming trees.  First version:
I wasn't crazy about the uniform shape and size of the dots,
or with how the green foreground looked, so I played with other possibilities.
I really wanted to use the green 'lace' paper (lower r.), but it felt too dark/heavy:

(most of) The fixin's:
A lot of 1/2 trees.

And, also, re: BLOSSOMS!  I did a pretty ruthless purge of my clothes closets (yes, plural) a few weekends ago, and one of the items I have no intention of parting with is this beautiful, silk, Liberty print suit that my mother made - probably late 60s:
Dogwood blossoms.  Which became, @ 8 or so years ago, my 'Mom' tattoo!

Happy May!!
